Saturday, Sunday, Christmas and Snowdays

I was talking with my youngest son the other day and he asked me, “Papa, do you know what my favorite days are?”. I paused and thought about it while he looked at me with a small grin on his face. I finally said, “Why don’t you tell me?” He said, “Saturday, Sunday, Christmas and snow days.” I asked him why those days in particular and he answered, “Well, Saturday because I get to sleep in late (he loves his bed and he loves to sleep in his own bed), Sunday, because we go to church and learn about God, Christmas, well because you know why and snow days because we get to play in it and it doesn’t snow all the time.” Just hearing what he said made me smile. But then I thought, what are my favorite days? Do I slow down enough to enjoy them when they come? What about new days that can become favorite days? Am I making room for a new favorite day?

What about you? What are your favorite days? I encourage you to stop and think about it. Write them down, hope for them, anticipate their arrival and get the excitement of a child again. Believe it or not your favorite days are great for relaxing and re-fueling for the days that are not your favorite!
